The Hundred (Pilates)Pilates, a physical fitness and body conditioning system, was developed by the German Joseph Pilates in the 1920s in the United States.

Joseph Pilates called his method “Contrology” because he believed that in his method the mind is used to control the muscles.

Pilates aids in gaining strength and endurance, conditioning the muscles and creating a streamlined physique. The whole body is toned without adding muscle bulk. It is especially well-known for its focus on creating a “strong core” (abdominal area) – strengthening the centre of the body – as well as good alignment and posture which automatically develops when toning the abdominal muscles as well as strengthening the spine. You will feel taller, leaner and stronger. It has helped me personally to overcome my chronic back pain/tension.

Pilates, alongside Yoga, is part of the exercise programs I have created. I am teaching traditional Iyengar Yoga as well as Solomon Yogalates™ which is a fusion of Yoga and Pilates – combining eastern and western, modern and ancient techniques.

My programs are designed for beginners as well as intermediate students – with pose variations catering for both. But remember, before beginning any exercise program, it is always advisable to speak to your doctor first.

I hope you enjoy my programs.

Have a great day – Namaste!
